I had the "Rated" button turned on when solving a puzzle. I failed but did not lose any rating. Why?

I solved a puzzle earlier this day, the daily lichess puzzle, and gained a +1 puzzle rating. A few minutes ago, I tried to solve another puzzle, one which I took the puzzle # of and typed it in the url. I made the correct first two moves, however, I made an incorrect move on the third move. I did not lose any puzzle rating no matter how much I refreshed my account. I looked at my recent activity and it does show that I solved the daily puzzle earlier this day and gained +1 puzzle rating, but not that I tried to solve a puzzle a few minutes ago and failed.

I swear that the "Rated" button was turned on when I made the first move. It was green. I think I should have lost some rating. I would prefer to because I want my puzzle rating to correctly reflect my current skill.

Thanks everyone in advance.
That will be a result of you typing in the specific puzzle code in the URL, I think. I'm not sure precisely how it works, but I know that if you call up a specific puzzle like that and then click on "show solution" without solving it, it doesn't affect your rating. Presumably it's the same if you do attempt to solve it but fail. It's a useful feature when we're trying to look at a specific puzzle which someone has said has two solutions or something - we just need to see what's going on without affecting our own puzzle rating.
